I joined Charlotte Street Partners in 2023, after seven years as a freelance public affairs and communications consultant and a period leading public affairs and public relations for a medical Royal College.
The breadth of experience I’ve gained in advising public, private and third sector organisations means that I thrive on exceeding client expectations and have a wide appreciation of the policy and political landscape in Scotland and beyond across a variety of industries.
I cut my political teeth as a staff member for an MSP in the Scottish Parliament, heavily involved in attempting to pass key public health legislation. This role allowed me to develop the ability to produce great work at pace which I consider to be my best asset.
Seven years running my own small business gave me a masterclass in the importance of client service, honesty and attention to detail. It was a brilliant apprenticeship, and I quickly came to understand how crucial strong client relationships are in producing impactful work.
I most enjoy helping clients set their strategic direction for their communications and public affairs output. In a world of tactics, it is strategy which will reap the best rewards.
Away from work, I live in Motherwell with my wife and rescue dog, Otis. When I’m not attempting to tire Otis out with long walks, I can usually be found trying to relive my failed youth as an international pop star by listening to music and thinking one day – just one day – I’ll get the band back together
